Home   >  Events  >  Open Talent: "Epictellers' Recipe: Cook Your Own Studio" + Demo Day UPC Video Games
Date: 07-11-2025
Timetable: 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
Location: Sala de Actos del Vertex - Campus Nord (Planta -1 - Plaza Eusebi Güell 6, 08034 Barcelona)

The UPC School is organizing a new session of its Video Games Demo Day, featuring a talk by Ricard Pillosu, co-founder and CEO of Epictellers Entertainment, who will share his experience in creating an independent video game studio in Barcelona. Pillosu will explain the growth of Epictellers —from its foundation in 2023 to becoming a 30-person team developing Starfinder: Afterlight— and will offer insights on leadership, team culture, and entrepreneurship in the video game industry.

The speaker

With more than 20 years of experience in the sector, Ricard Pillosu has worked on AAA projects such as Ryse: Son of Rome (Crytek) and at Smilegate Barcelona. He has also taught at UPC and, in 2023, founded Epictellers with the goal of creating high-quality narrative RPGs.

Presentation of the video game “The Hound of Ulster”

After the talk, The Hound of Ulster (by studio Centuria Games) will be presented — a 3D action RPG inspired by Irish mythology, developed by students of the UPC School’s Master’s programs in Video Games and Animation (2024-2025 edition). The game combines fast-paced combat, mystical environments, and an epic narrative created by the students.
