The two academic tracks taught at the Centre de la Imatge i la Tecnologia Multimèdia (CITM) (Image Processing and Multimedia Technology Centre) – the degrees in Multimedia Studies and the Bachelor's Degree in Video Game Design and Development - are officially recognised programmes of study within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

By adapting to the EHEA, an added value will be given to the educational development of multimedia and photography students, since students will now have the opportunity to move on and pursue postgraduate and Master’s degrees offered by the university to round off their studies.

Therefore, degree programmes taught from 2009-2010 onward are extended from three years, as occurred under the old system, to four academic years at 60 ECTS credits apiece.

For these programmes to gain recognition as official degrees and to form part of the official catalogue of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), they have had to fulfil quality requirements and complete the processes of the Consell d’Universitats (Council of Universities) and the Agència d’Avaluació de Qualitat i Acreditació (ANECA) (Agency for the Evaluation of Quality and Accreditation).
