Open Knowledge: Open Knowledge in Photography and Multimedia Studies

-

Introduction

Open Knowledge puts a specific catalogue of courses in the areas of multimedia studies, photography and digital media within reach of audio-visual communication professionals in an open format.

With Open Knowledge you can take courses along with the rest of the students at the Centre de la Imatge i la Tecnologia Multimèdia (CITM) (ImageProcessing and Multimedia Technology Centre), in the same classrooms, with the same learning materials and methods used at the Centre.

A programme to enhance skills and update knowledge

Once courses have been completed students will receive an accredited certificate of completion for the Open Knowledge module they have taken. If students eventually decide that they want to enrol in any of these degree courses, this certification is transferrable and recognised as corresponding to courses in the undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes at the CITM. Access to these studies may include specific prerequisites depending on whether they will be applied to an undergraduate or postgraduate degree.

The main objective of this programme is to reinforce competencies and knowledge as well as facilitate access to education to anyone who has been out of the educational system for awhile and is interested in studying again.

How to access

The courses that are part of the Open Knowledge programme run from September to January and from February to June. The corresponding enrolment periods are open from March to September and from November to February, basically just up until the courses begin.

There are no minimum prerequisites other than having access to a computer with an internet connection that allows you to take the courses. Nevertheless, some of the courses may require prerequisite knowledge and those will be analysed on a case by case basis.

Each student will be assigned a tutor who will be able to answer any questions they may have.

The certification students will receive for completing a course is a continuing education diploma from the UPC.
