The Centre de la Imatge i la Tecnologia Multimèdia (Image Processing and Multimedia Technology Center) is an educational center attached to the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya that specialises in image and multimedia interaction training. It is located in the UPC Campus in Terrassa, regarded as the second university city in Catalonia. It is an urban campus that is integrated into the city, in the Vallès Occidental County.
Cutting-edge training in image and multimedia interaction
The Center offers three official degree programmes: a bachelor's degrees in Design, Animation and Digital Art, a degree in Multimedia Studies and a bachelor's degrees in Video Game Design and Development.
Besides these official degree programmes, the Centre de la Imatge i la Tecnologia Multimèdia also offers postgraduate training courses and specialisation courses in different fields of specialisation for photography, multimedia technologies, interactive entertainment and videogames.
The CITM offered the Bachelor's degree in Photography and Digital Arts from the 2009-2010 academic year to the 2014-2015 academic year. Further information.
Research, innovation and knowledge transfer
In addition to the academic side, the Image Processing and Multimedia Technology Center is a pioneering center for research, innovation and development of knowledge transfer projects in the fields of image and multimedia interaction. The Audiovisual Lab, the Lab for Interactive Applications Multimedia and Videogames, the Lab for Computer Generated Image (CGI), the Lab for Human-Computer Interaction and the Lab for Quality Image make up what is known as the PENTALAB, the main point from where innovative and research projects are developed to include the latest knowledge into teaching the degrees and postgraduate courses, and to transfer this knowledge to productive and service sectors in the economy.
